Come order it from me if you like:) Trying this, and hoping all goes smoothly.
From the beginning, BENEATH THE NEON MOON's been an experiment. I wanted to see what I could do with it myself by publishing it on my own. I've learned a lot. Mainly, that doing all the STUFF yourself is EXHAUSTING. Formatting and multiple edits and arranging for the artwork and and and ... it's fun but it's definitely time and labor intensive.
First, I wanted to publish it on Amazon because I wanted some control over my work - the cover, the look of the book, for example. I've found limited success with that. I'm very happy with Sonja's artwork, of course - couldn't be happier. But self-publishers have to fall into the mixing machine, too, regardless of what control she fancies herself having (rolling eyes at myself a little, yeah). The deal is, you utilize the tools the seller offers an author and you follow their parameters for uploading and formatting books.
All I can do is make sure the files on my end don't suck, in other words.
Another reason for this experiment: frankly, Barnes & Noble burned me when they started selling my prior work. They set their own sales, which yes, okay, I don't mind giving readers a break, not at all, but I'm not really fond of the ability of Barnes and Noble to cut my prices down as steeply as they did. A dollar and change split three ways doesn't do much for me. Then when Amazon is notified of that lower price, they match it. I've still got TOUCH LIKE BREATHING at Amazon for $1.78 - not my idea, needless to say.
Anyway, thought I'd share a little of what I've been doing and why with the book. I have decided to offer it for sale at my site as well in PDF and HTML formats only. I'm not a merchant and not really set up for that, but if you want a rather prettily formatted version of NEON MOON, come see me at my website. I've set up a paypal BUY IT NOW button and will deliver the story to you via email after I am notified. We'll see how this works:)
