from KLAUDIA: once I said it was art
Jul. 18th, 2008 07:12 am ...actually, I remember comparing writing to sculpting. Finding the story and carving it out, refining it. But I forgot about the first part that happens when I start a new story. I forgot about BASHING myself against the rock. I forgot that the rock requires a BLUD sacrifice.
You'd think I mean the new story's going badly, right? No. It's building something from the ground up, and there's so much to decide on: narrative voice, plot, character development.
